BISCUIT QUILT- QUASI FINITA

Ho finito l’imbottitura ed ho attaccato insieme tutte le file. Il cattivo tempo mi ha tenuto in casa e così ho potuto andare avanti. Adesso manca solo attaccare la fodera dietro e fermarla.
I finally finished stuffing my quilt and have sewn together all the rows. The exceptionally bad weather we had this weekend kept me in the house so I was able to go on sewing. Now all I have to do is attach the backing.



Spero solo che piaccia alla futura mamma.
I hope my cousin's wife likes it.

BISCUIT QUILT - 2a PARTE

E’ tornata la macchina per cucire, così ho potuto attaccare assieme il davanti ed il dietro di tutti i miei quadretti.
My sewing machine has been repaired, so that I was able to attach the front and back of all my squares.



Adesso mi manca solo l’imbottitura ed attaccare tutte le strisce.
Now I only need to stuff them and sew all the rows together.
Ho tagliato talmente tanti quadrati che penso mi basteranno per un’altra copertina.
I’ve cut so many squares that I may have enough for another quilt.

BISCUIT QUILT

Ho finalmente finito di tagliare tutta la stoffa per la parte sopra della mia copertina. Ho dovuto interrompere un paio di volte perché il gatto saltava sul tavolo e mi voleva aiutare. Adesso ne dovrò tagliare altrettanti per la parte sotto.
I have finally finished cutting all of the fabric for the top of my quilt. I had to stop a couple of times because the cat kept jumping on the table, he wanted to help me. Now I’ll have to cut an equal number for the back of it.



Ho cominciato a mettere giù un certo numero di quadrati secondo lo schema che volevo fare, ma come vedete il tavolo non era abbastanza grande.
I started putting some squares down just to see how the quilt would appear, but as you can see the table wasn’t big enough.


Purtroppo non so quando potrò iniziare ad unirlo tutto insieme perché, forse sapendo il lavoro che aveva davanti, la mia macchina per cucire ha dichiarato sciopero e l’ho dovuto portare al negozio.
Unfortunately I don’t know when I will be able to start because my sewing machine has gone on strike and I have had to take it to be repaired. Oh well.

Ho una nascita imminente in famiglia (agosto) ed ho deciso di fare una copertina con la tecnica del Biscuit Quilting. Trovo che sia una tecnica molto veloce da fare e le altre copertine che ho già fatto con questo sistema sono state molto bene accette. Qui vedete un'esempio di questa tecnica :



Poiché non so se sarà maschio o femmina, sono andata a fare lo shopping per la stoffa indecisa se farla gialla, verde o viola. Sono andata sia al mercato che al negozio degli scampoli dove si trova veramente di tutto. A forza di accostare tessuti ho finalmente deciso sul blu e giallo e ho comprato :

My cousin’s wife is expecting a baby for august and I have decided to make a quilt in Biscuit Quilting. Since I don’t know if it will be a boy or a girl, I went shopping for the fabric uncertain as whether to go for yellow, green or maybe purple. I went to our weekly market and to a fabric store. After mixing and matching I finally chose blue and yellow and bought :



Poiché mi avanzerà della stoffa, ho trovato su Amazon U.K. questo libro che spiega molto bene come fare delle camicette e degl’abitini semplici, semplici. Appena faccio la copertina provo subito.

Since I won’t be using all of the fabric for the quilt, I have found this book on Amazon U.K. which explains very clearly how to make simple blouses, skirts etc. As soon as I have finished with my quilt I’ll try making something.
